| Torino's crisis continues, but Reggina climb away from the danger zone with this surprise away victory. The Stadio Olimpico in Turin was able to host this relegation tussle, as the new arena comfortably passed security requirements. Alberto Zaccheroni's concerns were on the pitch, though, as Torino had just one point from their last five games with Gabriele Cioffi suspended. Luca Tognozzi sat out a ban for the Amaranto.
Ogbonna made his Serie A debut and almost marked the occasion with a goal, nodding wide from a corner kick. Reggina also threatened on the half-hour mark with Nicola Amoruso's header. Toro thought they had taken the lead moments later, as Gianluca Comotto's splendid half-volley on the bounce smashed against the crossbar. Alessandro Rosina is Torino's most creative player and he had a shot charged down before the break. Straight after the restart Campagnolo used his feet to parry an Elvis Abbruscato effort at the near post. However, it was Reggina who took the lead moments later. Rolando Bianchi was given far too much space by debutant Obgonna and comfortably fired past Christian Abbiati one-on-one. The situation lasted just 120 seconds before Torino's equaliser. Rosina's magnificent free kick was met by an equally impressive Campagnolo save, but he could do nothing on Comotto's follow-up. However, Bianchi completed his brace with a bomb of a free kick that flashed across the face of goal and past Abbiati's outstretched hand. Substitute Roberto Muzzi had a couple of shots charged down, as did Rosina. Torino poured forward in the final minutes and Franceschini's diving header clipped the upright with the goalkeeper beaten. |
