Serie A Week 38 - 27/5/07 (14.00 UK)
Reggina 2 - 0 Milan
Amoruso 8 (R), Amerini 67 (R)
Stadio Granillo

Reggina got the win they needed to stay in the top flight, as Nicola Amoruso and Amerini got the better of a hungover Milan.

The Rossoneri were celebrating Wednesday's Champions League triumph, but it was all still to play for at the Granillo, as Reggina needed a victory to stay in Serie A. Coming back from an 11-point Calciopoli penalty, they had to do without the suspended Alessandro Lucarelli and Pasquale Foggia. Ronaldo made a surprise comeback early from a thigh strain, while Yoann Gourcuff and Ricardo Oliveira sat out a ban.

Nicola Amoruso gave Reggina a precious lead in some style. He had his back to goal and flicked the ball up twice around the six-yard box to turn and strike.

Milan fought back and had a series of shots charged down in the space of the same move, then Andrea Campagnolo fingertipped a Christian Brocchi daisy-cutter round the post.

Former Reggina striker Marco Borriello thought he had scored, but his header struck Giandomenico Mesto's back practically on the line.

Gazzi's drive from 20 metres skimmed the upright and at the other end Borriello sprung the offside trap to drill wide when he really should have done better.

Luca Vigiani fired off target from the edge of the area and Ronaldo brought a tough save out of Campagnolo on the stroke of half-time.

Brocchi's ball over the defence found a Marcos Cafu volley off target, but Giuseppe Favalli's howler in his own area almost handed Amoruso a second goal.

Moments later Cafu's angled drive on the counter clipped the base of the upright.

Zeljko Kalac flew to tip another Amoruso strike out from under the bar, but Reggina doubled their lead on 67 minutes. Vigiani cut back to the edge of the area for Amerini to strike with the outside of his right foot.

Milan wanted a penalty for a Maurizio Lanzaro handling offence to block Cafu's shot.
