Serie A Week 31 - 7/4/07 (14.00 UK)
Reggina 0 - 0 Inter
Stadio Granillo (18,506)

Inter were held to a shock stalemate at the Stadio Granillo, putting the Scudetto celebrations back.

The Nerazzurri were without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maxwell, Dejan Stankovic and the suspended Marco Materazzi, but remained a fearsome prospect for relegation-threatened Reggina. That was especially true as the Amaranto were missing Pasquale Foggia and Alessandro Lucarelli on bans.

Andrea Campagnolo turned a Julio Cruz left-foot strike out for a corner, but Inter lost Walter Samuel to a muscular problem early on and he made way for Nicolas Burdisso.

At the other end Julio Cesar rushed out to close down Amerini and on the resulting corner Maurizio Lanzaro's looping header was off target.

Cruz tried to dummy an Esteban Cambiasso low cross from the byline, but the defence interrupted before Adriano could pounce.

Reggina started to turn up the pressure on the runaway Serie A leaders. First Julio Cesar had to parry a dangerous Giandomenico Mesto cross off Rolando Bianchi's feet, then he flew to prod a Luca Vigiani bouncing header round the post with the tips of his gloves.

Just before the break Olivier Dacourt fired an ambitious lob over with the 'keeper off his line, while Cambiasso's backheel wasn't far off.

The second half started brightly. Adriano's run was charged down and Campagnolo rushed out to close down Cambiasso after combining with L'Imperatore.

Javier Zanetti set up a chance that his fellow Argentine Cruz whistled wide, then Campanolo stuck out a foot to deny Fabio Grosso's cross-shot.

Reggina went closer than anyone to an opener, though, on 63 minutes. Mesto's free kick floated to the back post for Palmiro Di Dio's volley and Julio Cesar somehow managed a spectacular point-blank reaction save from less than five yards.

The move continued up the other end and it was Campagnolo who needed his wits about him to parry Cambiasso's left-foot half-volley. There were penalty appeals for a Tognozzi challenge on the Argentine.

Roberto Mancini went for broke in the final stages by throwing on Alvaro Recoba for fullback Grosso. Within minutes his strike was deflected out for a corner, but Inter could not break down the Amaranto defence.
