Serie A Week 29 - 18/3/07 (14.00 UK)
Messina 0 - 3 Torino
Muzzi 26 (T), Rosina pen 77 (T), Stellone 85 (T)
Stadio San Filippo

Torino celebrated a rare away victory that sends Messina tumbling back into the bottom three.

These two teams were desperate to earn points as the relegation dogfight really gets going. Gianni De Biasi has boosted Toro since his return, but Messina had goalkeeper Nicholas Caglioni suspended after failing a doping test, so former Granata man Gabriele Paoletti stepped in.

Edgar Alvarez skipped past two players inside the area for Christian Abbiati to tip his finish over the bar. Toro ran on the counter-attack with Alessandro Rosina and Fabio Gallo's low drive.

Arturo Di Napoli had a shot charged down from eight yards, but Masiello saw Abbiati off his line and unleashed a lob from 40 metres that the former Juventus goalkeeper tipped over the bar.

It was Torino who took the lead against the run of play. Elvis Abbruscato found space down the left flank and his chipped cross was nodded back by Rosina for Roberto Muzzi to deposit into the net from a yard. It was the veteran's first goal in six months.

The Granata could so easily have made it 2-0 moments later. Rosina was extremely unlucky to hit the crossbar twice in the space of 15 seconds! The first was a curling left-foot strike, the second a more powerful effort.

Christian Rigano' smashed an angled drive past the far post just before the break.

The referee pointed to the spot when Masiello pushed Rosina over, but questions remain over whether or not the foul was inside the area. Rosinaldo got back up to take the penalty and coolly rolled it into the right corner, sending Paoletti the wrong way.

Roberto Stellone came on for Rosina and within 120 seconds had made it 3-0 for the Granata with a free header from a corner kick.
