Roma were more aggressive coming out for the second half, although Rodrigo Taddei wasted a couple of promising opportunities. Francesco Tavano made his Serie A debut for the Giallorossi, replacing Ferrari for an all-attack 4-1-4-1 formation sending Chivu back into defence. Manitta performed a splendid reaction save on Mancini's volley after fine work from Totti and Taddei. Moments later Marc Pfertzel flung himself at another Mancini strike to deflect it over the bar. Roma eventually grabbed a deserved equaliser with their symbol, Francesco Totti. Mancini threaded through for Wilhelmsson, whose low cross was flicked in from six yards by Er Pupone for his 13th goal of the season. There were penalty appeals for a Mexes handling offence, but the extremely tense game exploded in stoppages. Totti and Fabio Galante clashes repeatedly and the Roma captain was sent off for taking his protests too far.
