Fiorentina celebrated their European achievements by hammering Sampdoria 5-1.
There was a party atmosphere at the Stadio Franchi, as the Viola were celebrating UEFA Cup qualification and Samp waved goodbye to boss Walter Novellino. It was also a farewell for Luca Toni, who is leaving Fiorentina this summer. He sat on the side of the pitch in the driving rain after metatarsal surgery in his foot. The Blucerchiati's injury crisis continued with Emiliano Bonazzoli, Fabio Bazzani, Cristian Terlizzi, Andrea Parola and the suspended Francesco Flachi sidelined.
Adrian Mutu opened the scoring after just five minutes on the counter-attack, confusing Accardi with his fancy footwork before burying the ball at the far post.
Fabio Quagliarella pounced on a Fabio Liverani error only to blast over, while Mutu rushed at Luca Castellazzi and his finish was off target.
Castellazzi palmed a Tomas Ujfalusi missile round the post, but Riccardo Montolivo doubled their lead with a magnificent goal. He volleyed in Fabio Liverani's chip over the defence with his left foot from a very tight angle.
Sampdoria got back into the game with Quagliarella's 13th of the season. Substitute Soddimo's splendid backheel sent the striker running for a right-foot drive from just inside the area.
Giampaolo Pazzini will be replacing Toni next term and got himself on the scoresheet straight after the restart. He ran on to Mutu's through ball and kept his cool for a low finish.
Castellazzi tipped a Liverani free kick round the post and Montolivo drilled off target from distance.
Reginaldo made it 4-1 with an impressive angled drive and completed his brace by flicking the ball over Accardi for a splendid half-volley.
