Serie A Week 16 - 17/12/05 (17.00 UK)
Treviso 2 - 1 Lecce
E Filippini 31 (T), Pinga 64 (T), Vucinic pen 69 (L)
Stadio Tenni

Treviso finally earned the first home win in their Serie A history with a great Andre Pinga goal to sink Lecce 2-1.

Alberto Cavasin took on the club he Coached from 1999 to 2002, although there was no room for sentiment in a head to head battle to avoid the drop. Lecce were back on track following their surprise win away to Udinese, while Treviso were looking for their first home victory of the season.

Lecce had the first real chance after six minutes when Adriano Zancope' rushed off his line to clear a Jaime Valdes pass off the feet of Axel Konan.

The Ivory Coast striker also went close with a spectacular volley on Camorani's cross.

But Treviso were aggressive from the start and really began to pile on the pressure after an open first half-hour of play. Reginaldo came flying in to meet Andre Pinga's cross from the left and Lorenzo Stovini performed a decisive clearance.

They broke through soon after, as Reginaldo set up Emanuele Filippini for a classy finish with the outside of his right foot. It was the former Lazio midfielder's first Serie A goal in a Treviso jersey.

Lecce made a surprise tactical choice before the break, removing Italian international Marco Cassetti and replacing him with Angelo.

Valdes threaded through for Konan, but the ball was on his weaker right foot and the chance to draw level went begging. The African youngster also drilled a half-volley over the bar.

Lecce threw on Cristian Ledesma and came out fighting for the second half and had two good opportunities in quick succession. First Konan flicked the ball through two defenders and forced Zancope' into a perfectly-timed intervention to close him down.

Then Mirko Vucinic chested down the ball and hit his half-volley at the goalkeeper, though perhaps he would've done better to go straight for a header.

Pinga found space in the Lecce defence and fired just over the bar from the edge of the box.

The Brazilian had only been warming up, as he scored a fantastic individual effort moments later. Pinga combined with Emanuele Filippini, skipped past Suleymane Diamoutene with his left foot and blasted into the top corner with his right.

Lecce were given a way back into the game when Antonio Filippini brought down Vucinic just inside the area. The Treviso midfielder seemed to slip and stumble into the striker, but it did nonetheless cut short his run towards the ball. Vucinic stepped up to convert the penalty himself.

Francesco Galeoto required treatment after clattering into Stovini and suffered a nasty blow to the head, but he was able to continue.

Treviso nearly made it 3-1 in the final stages with a Dino Fava header, but moments later goalkeeper Vincenzo Sicignano rushed out of the area and held back Filippini, leading to an inevitable red card. All the substitutions had been completed, so midfielder Gaetano Del Vecchio went between the posts.

Del Vecchio managed to keep the scoreline down in stoppages with a reaction save on Fava, sticking out a foot to block the shot. Lecce nearly snatched an equaliser with the last kick of the game, but Treviso hung on during a chaotic corner.
