Luciano Spalletti admits his Roma are not performing anywhere near the expected standard this season.
“The right spirit always makes the difference in a team. Unfortunately, today we were only able to play in short bursts,” said the Coach after their 1-0 defeat to Siena.
“We encountered a well-organised team and paid the price for not converting our scoring opportunities.
“This meant that right on the stroke of half-time we were punished by a counter-attack.”
The Giallorossi's hopes of a fightback were reduced when Philippe Mexes and Christian Panucci saw red.
Both will be suspended for the next Serie A game against Inter, while injury doubts remain over Francesco Totti, David Pizarro, Marco Cassetti and Max Tonetto.
Mirko Vucinic was also sidelined for today's match at Siena, so will Spalletti try to change his system to get through this difficult time?
“More than a change of system, right now I am above all thinking of recuperating some particularly important players.”
