Inter boss Jose Mourinho could persuade President Massimo Moratti to swoop for Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda at the start of 2009.
The Special One is known to be an admirer of the 24-year-old, who moved from Le Mans to Benfica last summer.
According to Algerian newspaper Al Khabar, Mourinho is determined to work with the rising star and will put pressure on Beneamata supremo Moratti to make the necessary funds available.
Yebda was born in France, developing in the Auxerre youth system, and is of Algerian origin, but is yet to represent either nation.
Many experts expect Raymond Domenech to call up Yebda soon in order to prevent him being tempted by Rabah Saadane's side.
