Cesare: Stop complaining!
Sunday 9 November, 2008

Fiorentina may have only beaten Atalanta 2-1, but Cesare Prandelli assures the victory was “beyond doubt.”

Felipe Melo’s first ever Serie A goal and Alberto Gilardino had put the Viola in control, but a late Sergio Floccari penalty caused a few scares.

“There are always going to be difficulties, but if we start complaining about this win as well, then it’s all over,” moaned the tactician.

“We created plenty of chances and clearly the opponent is bound to have a go too once they go behind.”

The atmosphere at the Stadio Franchi was tepid following the 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich midweek that practically ended their Champions League ambitions.

“Florence is a difficult place to work in, but I have said in the past that it can also be an advantage, because the crowd doesn’t want you to lose in any circumstances and feels inferior to nobody,” continued Prandelli.

“Of course, if the team wants to go far then it must prove that it can deal with this pressure and remember in a week the whole situation can be overturned.

“We want to improve. We’re on the right track and will play every game right to the end.”
