Udinese have every intention of attacking Inter from the get-go at San Siro, assures a confident Pasquale Marino.
“On Sunday we are facing a great team led by an experienced Coach who is able to mutate his tactics to suit the situation and always achieve results,” said the Friuli boss.
“However, we must try to develop our own style of play. If we passively wait for the Nerazzurri in our own half, then sooner or later one of their many champions will place the knockout blow.”
Udinese have every reason to be confident, as they notched up a second consecutive UEFA Cup victory midweek by conquering Spartak Moscow 2-1 in Russia.
They are also flying high in Serie A and are on equal points with the mighty Inter going into Sunday afternoon’s clash.
“The team is in good shape and is getting accustomed to playing twice a week, especially thanks to the rotation system that has always been planned ahead.”
They make the trip without Italian international Antonio Di Natale, who has been suffering from a bout of influenza all week.
“I am thinking of using [Antonio] Floro Flores as a wide man in the trident attack.
“When we meet a big side like Inter then there is no need to motivate the players. Tiredness just washes away when faced with such an important test.
“This season the team has grown a great deal in terms of maturity and its ability to handle the pressures of an entire match,” added Marino.
“A positive result at San Siro would help us build confidence, but would not change our targets for the campaign, nor our working methods.”
