Gianni De Biasi is confident Torino can turn their season around by defeating Palermo today for that extra confidence boost.
The Coach was on the verge of packing his bags ahead of a crucial 2-1 victory over Atalanta, but that was their only positive result in amongst five defeats.
The latest was particularly painful, as the 1-0 loss at Sampdoria was characterised by a series of refereeing errors.
“It’s true to say Toro are in decent shape. Looking at the table one might grimace, but I think those who follow us closely will know without exaggeration that we earned at least four more points than we currently possess,” said De Biasi.
“From that angle the start to the season takes on a whole different light. The important signs I see from the team during the week must be translated into points come the weekend.
“I am convinced that if we repeat the type of performance we had against Samp for the remaining 28 rounds, then there will be many victories under our belt.”
The Granata have failed to hit the back of the net in four of their last five games and come face to face with high-flying Palermo.
“The sensations are good and we just need to start stringing some results together. Seeing as points don’t grow on trees, we have to go out there and earn them,” continued De Biasi.
“Palermo have double our points tally, so clearly they are in a very different mindset. Their squad was built up over time in an environment which, like ours at Torino, is very passionate and close to the side.”
Cesare Natali and Matteo Rubin sit this one out with a ban, while Ignazio Abate, Eugenio Corini and Matteo Sereni are sidelined.
It is entirely possible fan favourite Alessandro Rosina will again be dropped to the bench following disagreements with De Biasi.
“A team must be stronger than the fact one or two famous faces are in the line-up. Everyone must be involved and the job of a Coach is to pick those in the best shape who can come together and reach our common objective.”
