Juventus are rallying round under-fire star Pavel Nedved and the Czech winger has received unexpected support from Roberto Mancini.
Nedved became public enemy No 1 in Milan when he broke Luis Figos fibula with a challenge during the Derby dItalia.
Juves staff held a meeting today to discuss their line on Nedveds challenge and are standing fully behind the ex-Lazio star.
Nedved is a fair player and he goes on to the pitch calmly, Bianconeri Coach Claudio Ranieri said.
He is a champion and he gives the side its spirit, but he always stops short of antagonism.
I want to reiterate that the incident with Figo was an accident and was the kind of thing that can happen in a game.
There was no malice and he was going for the ball.
While support from his club comes as little surprise, the backing of Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini is somewhat unexpected.
I think that Nedveds foul was just a routine one and he was going for the ball, he stressed.
We are saddened by what has happened to Figo, but these things can happen.
