Lazio midfielder Massimo Mutarelli has been handed a three-match ban for insulting the referee, while nine others sit out suspensions in Serie A.
Mutarelli saw red in the final moments of the 1-0 home defeat to Fiorentina on Saturday when he verbally attacked the official.
He continued to protest vehemently as he left the field and the Disciplinary Commission has come down hard on the Lazio man with a three-match ban.
His teammate Gaby Mudingayi was booked in that match and will also be suspended, albeit for just one game.
The other Serie A players handed a one-match ban are Mirko Pieri (Sampdoria), Marco Borriello (Genoa), Sasa Bjelanovic (Torino), Amauri (Palermo), Roberto Guana (Palermo), Paul Codrea (Siena), Pavel Nedved (Juventus, pictured) and Luca Saudati (Empoli).
Meanwhile, Juventus and Lazio could still see large fines or even the closure of a section of the stadium after the behaviour of their fans.
The Disciplinary Commission has asked for further advice from the authorities and the referee before making a decision.
The Biancocelesti run a particular risk as a group of supporters aimed racist chants at Fiorentina’s Romanian striker Adrian Mutu.
