Chiellini revels in Real triumph
Thursday 6 November, 2008

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was over the moon after the Old Lady conquered the Bernabeu.

The Bianconeri pulled off a huge coup to secure their place in the knockout stages with a 2-0 triumph away to Real Madrid.

Claudio Ranieri's men had bounced back from a crisis with their win over Real in Turin and erased memories of a sluggish start to the Serie A season.

“In our games against Real we found the spirit we showed last year,” Chiellini beamed.

“We achieved a great feat at the Bernabeu. Successes like this and the satisfaction they bring us are a repayment for the sacrifices we made two years ago when we stayed with Juve in Serie B.

“If we hadn't believed we could be reborn we wouldn't have stayed in Turin.”

Fellow stopper Nicola Legrottaglie was also ecstatic after recording such a prestigious win.

“I will always remember this evening,” he declared. “It was the best experience and not many people get to win in Madrid.

“We got the result by playing a very high defensive line and not everyone has that kind of courage.”
