Not all was lost, says Blasi
Wednesday 5 November, 2008

Napoli midfielder Manuele Blasi has explained how the Partenopei can learn from their 1-0 defeat against Milan last Sunday.

Napoli felt hard done by when Ronaldinho’s shot deflected off German Denis and into the net with only four minutes to go until the final whistle.

“I believe that every defeat always contains a moral, which if read in the right way can enhance your bag of experience,” said the 28-year-old.

“We are a young team, but one that is gradually acquiring its own personality. By continuing like this we will become mature and earn experience. I believe that we are making great progress.”

Napoli are currently fourth in Serie A after the opening 10 games of the championship and are just two points off leaders Milan.

Next up for the Partenopei are Sampdoria who travel to San Paolo having won their last two games.

“The great teams quickly turn the page after a defeat and we also have to do it. Samp will arrive solid, strong and encouraged after two consecutive victories.

“It will be a tough game,” concluded the former Roma youngster. “We will have to play at the top of our potential.”

Meanwhile, Napoli fans received some good news this morning as Marek Hamsik and Fabiano Santacroce returned to training after picking up knocks against Milan.

Marcelo Zalayeta is still struggling for full match fitness, though, and trained alone while Walter Gargano has been struck down with a fever.
