A Torino supporters club have drawn up a petition and sent an extraordinary open letter to chief referee designator Pierluigi Collina.
The move comes in protest over Nicola Amorusos disallowed goal at Sampdoria on Sunday afternoon.
Amoruso headed the ball against the upright and as it came out a defender attempted to clear it, only to hit the former Juventus striker and send the ball into the back of the net.
Referee Nicola Ayroldi ruled Amoruso offside and Sampdoria went on to win the game through Claudio Bellucci who broke the deadlock with a lovely flick in the 84th minute.
In the letter, fans have asked Collina to pay more attention to the referees he selects for future games.
Aside from the evident, profound bitterness, that forces us to write this letter, Mr Collina have you read in the sports papers about the embarrassment regarding a performance by the referee you picked?
This embarrassment has made us believe or at least hope that you have the sensibility to comprehend why we are writing.
After years as simple spectators we have seen one robbery follow another, injustices and a Calciopoli in the guise of theatre.
We ask that the games of Torino come to be examined and not only ours. Take the right measures and, from now on, balance the judgement.
We would one day like to discover that the referee is no longer the enemy, against whom we have to win.
As petty facts, irritating whistles, interrupted actions, marginal offsides are, all told, worth a disallowed goal.
We ask you Mr Collina to make an exemplary sanction to Mr Ayroldi not because he has damaged us, but because with that we define error.
He has caused a further profound injury to a world that is already sick of chronic psychological subversion, protective interests outside of football and stocks that cannot be compromised
Once again Mr Collina give a demonstration today, off the pitch, that someone clean also exists inside the system of football.
We believe it would be a great chance for Mr Collina, for all of the fans and for the entire world of football to mark a little step
Torino currently lie sixteenth in Serie A after claiming only two victories in their opening 10 games this season. They are just two points above the relegation zone.
