President Rosella Sensi is delighted after Roma smashed Chelsea 3-1 in the Champions League last night.
The Giallorossi had lost their previous five games in all competitions yet managed to deliver an excellent performance.
Not everyone can beat [Luiz] Scolaris team, explained Sensi. Its a game that gives us courage and strength to go forward and do better.
The Roma we have seen this evening is a Roma that does not seem too different from the one we saw five months ago.
The Giallorossi are currently fourth from bottom in Serie A, just two points off the foot of the table, which is remarkable when you consider they came within a couple of minutes of winning the title last season.
We still have to get out of this situation and we continue to look to do it, added Sensi, who became President in the summer after her father Franco died.
When asked about the future of Coach Luciano Spalletti, Sensi replied: He has never been put in doubt by the owner.
The 37-year-old also defended the clubs decision to keep the players in ritiro after Saturdays defeat at Juventus.
At the beginning I wanted it, she admitted. But after the last game I left it up to the boys and the trainer to decide if it would be better to go in ritiro or home to their loved ones.
What we dont like is the pain of the fans, we want to share it with them. We are looking to get out of this situation and accept with balance the defeats and victories.
Roma travel to Bologna on Saturday to resurrect their Serie A campaign. They are second in Champions League Group A, a point behind leaders Chelsea with two games remaining. |
