Sampdoria Coach Walter Mazzarri was pleased with last night's battling draw with German side Stuttgart.
The Blucerchiati went a goal down after eight minutes in their second UEFA Cup Group C clash, but they fought back through Paolo Sammarco to draw 1-1.
The game was heavily affected by the strong wind and the poor condition of the pitch, Mazzarri said after the final whistle.
This draw isn't to be taken lightly because we made the running in the first half, while they were more physical than us and hit us on the break.
Stuttgart are a great team with lots of talented players and we did well to avoid defeat.
However, the results of this round didn't help us and now we have the tough trip to Liege and Sevilla at home before Christmas.
Mazzarri was also celebrating surpassing Vujadin Boskov's Sampdoria record of games unbeaten in Europe.
It's a great pleasure to overtake a great like Boskov, it's just a shame I didn't do so with a win, the Doria tactician concluded.
