| | | | | | Inzaghi revels in his record |
Friday 28 November, 2008 |
| Milan hero Pippo Inzaghi was over the moon after his last-gasp goal at Portsmouth sent the Rossoneri through and broke Raul's scoring record.
The Diavolo looked headed for defeat when they went 2-0 down at Fratton Park in the second half.
But a Ronaldinho free-kick reduced the deficit and Inzaghi, who had struck the woodwork three times, popped up to find an equaliser, surpassing Raul's European goal record in the process.
I was starting to think it could be a jinxed night after hitting the post twice and the bar, Inzaghi admitted after the game.
But I kept believing to the end because I felt really good physically and the gods of football rewarded me in the 93rd minute.
To wear the captain's armband and to overtake Raul with a goal that secures qualification is something extra.
Europe is a special stage for Milan and we will do everything to get to the Final. It's a long and difficult journey, but we have such desire.
