| Genoa and Palermo are reportedly ready to do battle for highly rated Brazilian forward Nilmar.
The 24-year-old has won plaudits for his performances at Internacional - the club that produced Alexandre Pato.
Palermo set their sights on luring Nilmar during the summer, but the deal died at the 11th hour, as the two clubs couldn't agree a fee.
The Rosanero had been close to signing Genoa star and current Serie A Capocannoniere Diego Milito but they lost out to the Grifone when they turned their attentions to Nilmar.
Ironically, Brazilian website Globoesporte claims that Genoa are ready to fight Palermo for Nilmar's signature in the January transfer window.
A Grifone scout was spotted at Internacional's recent encounter with Estudiantes and the Rossoblu are said to be looking for a second striker to support Milito.
