Luciano Spalletti believes Roma have truly turned a corner with back-to-back wins over Lazio and Lecce.
“The team has rediscovered its sharpness and the quality that has always been the cornerstone of our football,” smiled the Coach.
“They were on the field for the full 90 minutes with the right approach. We need to win games and right now we are in good shape.”
The 3-0 triumph at the Stadio Via Del Mare was their first away victory after picking up just one point from their previous trips.
“We need to keep our feet firmly on the ground and continue to work hard. There is still room for improvement, but we have already done enough experimenting.”
Spalletti fielded Francesco Totti with support from Mirko Vucinic and Julio Baptista, which proved effective.
“We have many players who are more adept at going through the middle and this forces our more attacking figures to play with their backs to goal, but it does make it a lot easier for the rest of the squad.”
Roma made several changes from the side that defeated Lazio last week, so will they stick with this line-up in the Champions League away to Cluj on Wednesday?
“We’ll have to see, because every game is difficult and puts a strain on the players. Those who were out today are in the right condition to replace anyone who was on the field.”
