Tiago out for a month
Sunday 23 November, 2008

There's more bad news for Juventus, as Tiago Mendes will be out for a month after spraining his left knee.

The midfielder collapsed just 90 seconds into last night's 1-0 defeat to Inter and was carried off the field in evident pain.

Today tests confirmed there was no ligament damage, but he has sprained his left knee and will require between 30 and 40 days on the sidelines.

The news came from the official Juventus website, a terrible blow for the player who had finally found his form after a disastrous debut season in Serie A.

It means the Bianconeri are without any creative central midfielders, as Christian Poulsen and Cristiano Zanetti are also injured.

The treatment table is crammed with David Trezeguet, Gianluigi Buffon, Jonathan Zebina, Hasan Salihamidzic and Dario Knezevic.
