Rossi shakes off derby blues
Saturday 22 November, 2008

Delio Rossi urged Lazio to put the derby defeat behind them and focus on resuming their campaign against Genoa.

The Biancocelesti's 1-0 defeat to rivals Roma was a heavy psychological blow and one that risks railroading their previously successful campaign.

“After missing an opportunity against Roma, I hope the team will step on to the field with the right spirit on Sunday,” warned the tactician.

“The derby is out of our minds and will only come back when we next take on Roma in the second half of the season.

“Tomorrow we are playing against a vastly strengthened Genoa side with important players who can potentially aspire to fourth place.

“This is a battle with a direct rival for position and a good result would allow us to continue our journey.”

Sebastiano Siviglia is out after picking up an injury in training, while Mourad Meghni and Tommaso Rocchi are set to be dropped in favour of a trident with Pasquale Foggia, Goran Pandev and Mauro Zarate.

“Meghni cannot think he can play well for a chunk of a match at a time, I expect consistency from his campaign,” warned Rossi.

“Rocchi is fit and no longer has injury worries, but that doesn't mean he will play. If there are to be tactical choices, then they must be accepted by everybody.”
