| Sensational rumours from the peninsula suggest that Manchester City will launch a bumper bid for Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon.
City's owners have a vast bankroll and the Eastlands outfit have been linked with a number of huge star names.
One man who reportedly features on the wish list is Juve and Italy No 1 Buffon.
Despite his importance to the Old Lady and his love of the club, Buffon recently stressed that he would encourage his current employers to accept a bid of £50m for him so they could strengthen the rest of the squad.
And according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, City may be ready to put such a bid on the table, possibly as soon as January.
The latest reports suggest that the Manchester side are ready to offer a staggering £65m and are preparing a huge five-year contract worth £12.6m per season.
This wage would see Buffon eclipse Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently the football world's highest earner.
At the moment these stories are nothing more than rumours, but it will certainly be food for thought for the Bianconeri.
