| Real Madrid put in a transfer request for Diego Milito and I said no, revealed Genoa President Enrico Preziosi.
The Spaniards are scurrying around Serie A for a new striker after Ruud Van Nistelrooy was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Contenders named by the media include Hernan Crespo of Inter, Milan's Andriy Shevchenko and Roma star Mirko Vucinic.
Real Madrid put in a transfer request, there was some contact with the Spanish club through their emissaries, confirmed Preziosi on Radio Kiss Kiss.
I simply replied that he is our striker and will not be moving from Genoa.
Milito returned to Marassi after a successful spell in la Liga with Real Saragozza and is the current Capocannoniere with 10 Serie A goals.
In an egotistical way I am happy he didn't get called up by Diego Maradona for this week's friendly with Scotland. He is the only centre-forward we've got and it is good that he stays here, even if he thoroughly deserves to be called up.
There are newspaper reports that Genoa are going to make a bid for Michael Owen, but Preziosi cut the rumours short.
There has never been any contact for the English striker and I do not understand how some stories come out.
We have Milito, he is our prime asset in attack and that's all we need. At most, when Diego needs to rest a bit, we will go on the market to find a promising young forward.
