Roma duo hail D-day success
Monday 17 November, 2008

Matteo Brighi and Alexander Doni were jubilant after Roma's crucial Derby della Capitale victory last night.

Last season's Serie A runners-up secured a crucial win over city rivals Lazio to help put their campaign back on track.

“It doesn't matter how tired you are as long as you win,” midfielder Brighi said after the final whistle.

“It was an important game and we really needed to take the three points to move up the table and back into the race.

“On a personal level, I have been at Roma for a year and a half and I have always been at the Coach's disposal, so I am hoping to continue as a starter.”

Goalkeeper Doni made some important saves, playing without head protection despite his injury against Bologna.

“The important thing today was to win, even if we didn't play well,” Doni explained.

“We have made some really important steps forward after so many injury problems and I hope we can continue like this.”
