German outfit Wolfsburg have announced the signature of Palermo defender Cristian Zaccardo.
Palermo are looking to rebuild the squad this summer after a disappointing campaign spent in mid-table.
With Amauri set to leave and Azzurri defender Andrea Barzagli possibly on his way out, Zaccardo has also chosen to jump ship.
Zaccardo has signed a three year contract, Wolfsburg Coach Felix Magath revealed.
He is a player of great substance and quality. Cristian is powerful, good in the air and strong in the tackle.
I am convinced that he will be a regular and that playing in the Bundesliga will help him become a fixture in the Italy side.
Zaccardo has slipped out of Azzurri contention recently and is out of the running for a place at Euro 2008, but he has 17 caps to his name and was a World Cup winner.
The former Bologna man is expected to command a fee of around £6m and will face ex-teammate Luca Toni when his side play Bayern Munich next term.
