Coppa: Catania eye upset
Thursday 8 May, 2008

Catania fans have flocked to the Stadio Massimino to see their side try to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Roma to reach the Coppa Italia Final.

The Sicilians are haunted by the spectre of relegation from Serie A, but Coach Walter Zenga has promised that they will fight to the death as they look for a ticket to a their first Cup Final.

Roma also have League business on their mind with their Scudetto hopes resting on favourable results this weekend.

The holders are looking to book their fourth consecutive Final meeting against Inter, knowing that this year’s one-off decider will be played at their Stadio Olimpico.

Catania's star man Juan Manuel Vargas won't feature and first-choice goalkeeper Ciro Polito is missing through injury.

But 14,000 tickets were sold in advance of the day and the hosts will be roared on by a hopeful crowd.

Roma will make do without custodian Alexander Doni and defenders Juan and Matteo Ferrari.

A half-fit Daniele De Rossi is starting alongside Alberto Aquilani and Matteo Brighi, while Amantino Mancini starts on the bench.

Catania: Bizzarri; Silvestri, Silvestre, Sottil, Alvarez; Izco, Edusei, Biagianti; Colucci, Mascara, Pià

Roma: Curci; Cicinho, Cassetti, Panucci, Antunes; Brighi, De Rossi, Giuly, Aquilani, Perrotta; Vucinic
