Reggina star Franco Brienza believes that home advantage will be important as the Amaranto host Empoli in a do-or-die relegation battle this weekend.
After a recent rally, Reggina lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with last weekend’s 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Catania.
It’s now three wins from four for the Calabrians who are looking to doom penultimate side Empoli to Serie B by beating them at a frenzied Stadio Granillo.
“It’s the most important and decisive game of our season,” Brienza admitted, “We are 100 per cent focused.
“Empoli are a tight side and they have the same squad that reached the UEFA Cup last year. They will also be determined to win, so we need to be at our best.
“But the Stadio Granillo is our strength and on Sunday it will be a cauldron. Our fans support us even in the difficult times.”
Brienza has been inspirational for Reggina since arriving from Palermo in January and has found the net seven times.
