Spalletti wants Coppa concentration
Wednesday 7 May, 2008

Luciano Spalletti is expecting 100 per cent concentration from his Roma side for tomorrow evening’s Coppa Italia semi-final against Catania.

This is a crucial week for the Giallorossi, who could see their title aspirations die on Sunday and are looking to book a place in their fourth consecutive Cup Final in Thursday’s trip to Sicily.

Roma lead Catania 1-0 after the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico on April 16, but Spalletti isn’t taking the relegation-threatened Elefanti lightly and expects full commitment.

“A side with the right mentality never eases off,” the Tuscan tactician insisted.

“We have the chance to get to the Final once again and it is especially important, given that it will be played at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We need to focus on this game against Catania and not relax so that we don’t let ourselves down, as has happened before.

“Would I rather meet Inter or Lazio in the Final? Let the better side win.”

Spalletti also looked ahead to the future and what needs to be done this summer to strengthen the capital club’s Scudetto credentials.

“We don’t need to force things because we have a good side. Everyone needs to work and we can improve while taking what we already have into consideration.”
