Reports suggest that sought-after Palermo defender Cristian Zaccardo has nearly reached an agreement with German side Wolfsburg.
The World Cup winner is widely expected to leave Palermo along with several other stars, including Juventus-bound marksman Amauri, this summer.
While several Italian sides are reportedly keeping an eye on Zaccardo, there have been no concrete offers.
And reports in the German Press suggest that mid-table Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are ready to capitalise.
The Saxony side are said to have tabled a £5.5m offer with a contract proposal that would tie Zaccardo to the club until 2011.
The possible stumbling block may be the 26-year-olds reported reluctance to leave the peninsula at this crucial stage of his career.
Although Luca Toni has excelled at Bayern Munich and maintained his spot in the Azzurri side, Zaccardo may feel his chances of returning to the national team would be damaged by leaving Serie A.
