Rossi's Coppa crunch match
Tuesday 6 May, 2008

Lazio know that they must beat Inter in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final if they are to save their season and Delio Rossi is ready for battle.

It has been a miserable campaign for the Biancocelesti who finished third last term but have been left languishing in the bottom half this time around.

While UEFA Cup qualification has long impossible in the League, Lazio could still secure their place by lifting the Coppa Italia, but first they need to overcome Inter at the Stadio Olimpico.

“This game can help us get into the UEFA Cup through the tradesman’s entrance, even though we failed to get through the front door,” Rossi stated.

“I have always said that the fans help us lots and they will be out in force tomorrow to give us the extra push.

“A 0-0 draw in the first leg was dangerous and now we have to use our heads as well as our hearts. Inter are a team that can win with little effort.

“The Coppa Italia is just an added incentive for Inter, but for us it’s the only objective.

“There is also the possibility that it could go to extra-time and I have considered the chance there could be a penalty shoot-out.

“We practised penalties and on Thursday all the lads were hitting them well, but it’s a totally different matter with the pressure and the crowd.”

Lazio (probable): Ballotta; Cribari, Siviglia, Zauri, Radu; Ledesma, Dabo, Behrami; Pandev, Rocchi, Bianchi
