Ranieri: It's never enough
Saturday 3 May, 2008

Claudio Ranieri does not want Juventus to rest on their laurels against Siena after securing a Champions League place.

“We have achieved so much, but it will all crumble the moment we stop respecting our duties,” said the Coach.

“We are not interested in Rome, we just care about how we perform. We have had a good campaign, but want to continue our growth. I am convinced this side can improve further and must carry on doing what it has always done.”

The Bianconeri were newly promoted after their Calciopoli-imposed season in Serie B, yet are in third place and have both Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet competing for the Capocannoniere title.

“This is the strength of the squad – great personal motivation channelled into furthering the cause of the collective,” continued Ranieri.

“The lads know what kind of a campaign they have had and don’t need to prove anything to me. They need to prove something to themselves.

“Every time I try to set the bar a little higher so it can act as motivation to surpass our limits. I want the maximum possible result. Being a Juventus player means you cannot ever be satisfied.”

Next year will be tougher, as the Bianconeri will be competing in Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

“Our next objective is to see if we can do that over two or three competitions. We don’t know yet, but are eager to find out.”

Meanwhile there was some bad news for Juventus, as director of sport Alessio Secco is in hospital with a fractured rib.

He was travelling in the centre of Turin when his moped was involved in a traffic accident.
