Vieri to join Becks or Spurs?
Saturday 3 May, 2008

Christian Vieri’s time at Fiorentina is at an end, but he has no intention of retiring with America, Napoli or Tottenham on the cards.

‘Bobo’ blasting a decisive penalty over the bar in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Rangers on Thursday night was probably the last time he will kick a ball in the Viola jersey.

He suffered a thigh strain during that UEFA Cup semi-final incident and will miss the rest of the season through injury.

Fiorentina do not intend to renew his contract, but the striker who will turn 35 in July has no intention of retiring.

There are currently only three options for Vieri. He could stay in Italy with Napoli, although that could mean sitting on the bench for much of the campaign and missing out on Europe.

He is still highly respected in America and could follow David Beckham into the MLS arena, especially as he speaks perfect English due to having spent much of his childhood in Australia.

A third alternative is the Premiership, as it has been reported that Tottenham are interested in taking on the one-time world’s most expensive player.

Vieri is one of the most well-travelled footballers in the sport, as since starting out with Prato in Serie C1 back in 1989-90 he has played for Torino, Pisa, Ravenna, Venezia, Atalanta, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Inter, Milan, Monaco, Atalanta and Fiorentina.

He also penned a contract with Sampdoria last year, but tore it up by mutual consent before taking part in a single training session.
