If Inter lose the derby on Sunday, then Roma could re-enter the title race, but Luciano Spalletti is taking a more philosophical approach.
A six-point gap would be too much to overcome especially as Inter have the advantage in head-to-head battles if it remained intact going into the final two rounds of the campaign.
“We must focus only on ourselves and our campaign,” warned the Giallorossi tactician when asked if he was expecting a ‘gift’ from Milan.
“We did brilliantly in the last round to lock out the voices from around the team and concentrate, putting in an excellent performance in terms of both quality and determination.
“We want to continue proving ourselves from here until the end of the season. I thank the lads, who are showing themselves to be model professionals. All we can do is win our games, then whatever will be, will be.”
Roma have a tough test this Sunday, as they travel to Marassi to face Sampdoria and former Giallorossi starlet Antonio Cassano.
“I have already complimented Cassano, as he has returned to showing the world just what he can do. I am convinced he will continue along this path.”
