Pavel Nedved is expected to announce his retirement after tomorrow’s game against his former club Lazio.
The Juventus midfielder turns 37 in August and the club had tried to change his mind the same way they did a year ago.
A new contract was offered, but meetings at the headquarters last night and again this morning failed to reach a consensus.
He had told fans and journalists that a Press conference would be held at 16.00 UK time today, but that appointment was scrapped.
Nedved began his career at Sparta Prague in 1992, moving on to Lazio in 1996 and then Juventus in 2001.
Although crowned the Ballon d’Or in 2003, his greatest regret is never winning the Champions League, missing the 2003 Final against Milan at Old Trafford due to suspension.
This season Pavel has scored seven goals in 30 Serie A games and been a regular starter despite his age.
In his career the legend has won three Czech League titles, the 1996 Czech Cup, three Scudetti (plus two stripped in the Calciopoli scandal), a Serie B title, the 1999 Cup Winners’ Cup and European Super Cup, four Italian Super Cups and two Coppa Italia trophies.
