Hernan Crespo has joined the crowd of Inter players hoping to win the derby and the Scudetto on the same day. “It’d be the icing on the cake.”
A victory on Sunday afternoon would be enough to mathematically seal the Serie A title and the fact they are doing so when facing Milan at San Siro would be particularly sweet.
“It all depends on us. We need just one victory and hope to get it soon because this season has been tough and tiring,” said Crespo.
“Of course, winning it at the Stadio Meazza in such an atmosphere and what’s more in a derby would be special for the fans.
“It doesn’t change much as far as we are concerned, though. We just want to win the Scudetto and that’s all that matters.”
Crespo is a former Milan striker and could be facing his old club on Sunday, although he faces tough competition from 17-year-old prodigy Mario Balotelli.
“All that counts is that Inter do well. At this moment in time it doesn’t matter if a 17-year-old or a 40-year-old is leading the line, as long as we achieve our objectives,” he told Sky Italia.
“Clearly I would love to play and take centre stage, but I think the personal aspect has to be put to one side.”
