Marco Materazzi claims that Inter are the underdogs against Milan and admits that he wants the Rossoneri to miss out on the Champions League.
While Inter lead the Rossoneri by 23 points in the table and are widely seen as favourites to win and wrap up the title, Materazzi thinks that they are outsiders to win this weekend.
“It’s every Interista’s dream to win the Scudetto in the derby,” he said on Sky Sport Italia. “Winning it with no handicaps will have a different taste.
“But to prevent any disappointment I have to say that we are facing a side on good form. They are favourites because they are world champions and it is their home fixture.
“However, maybe Carlo Ancelotti is more afraid of missing out on the Champions League than we are of losing the Scudetto.
“If we don’t win the title on Sunday, we have two other chances to win the title.”
Milan must look for maximum points from their remaining three fixtures to keep their hopes of overhauling fourth-placed Fiorentina and playing in next season’s Champions League alive.
“Milan have had a strange year where lots of their players were tired,” Materazzi explained.
“They haven’t had Pippo Inzaghi all season and Alberto Gilardino has had some problems.
“Inzaghi is someone who only needs three minutes in a game and some adrenaline and he can find form as he has shown. I’m hoping to stop him.
“But in the end they will still be fighting until the final day. I hope that they don’t make it.
“Who would I bring to Inter from the Milan side? It would be too easy to say Kaka, but I would say Gennaro Gattuso,” the Matrix concluded.
