Juve chief awaits Amauri Friday
Wednesday 28 May, 2008

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has confirmed that Amauri is set to sign on Friday, but he remains cautious. “I want to see his signature.”

After a long-running saga of twists and turns, Palermo striking star Amauri finally seems to have accepted the Old Lady’s offer.

The deal had seemed inevitable weeks ago, but the former Chievo man backed away at the 11th hour after Milan upped their interest.

However, a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, personal terms have been finalised and a medical successfully completed, leaving Amauri to sign on the dotted line.

“It seems that Amauri has declared that he will fill in all the forms and sign on Friday,” Cobolli Gigli explained.

“I am optimistic, even if nothing is definite until it is written in black and white. Friday should be the big day.”

Another man on the Bianconeri shopping list is Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso and the Juve chief gave an update on the situation.

“The player’s agent is set to arrive, or may have already arrived, today,” he revealed.

“We can’t deny that we are interested, but there’s always the problem of value for money. Jean-Claude Blanc is working on this and other hypotheses.”
