Juventus have confirmed the signature of Werder Bremen midfielder Diego in a note on their website.
The Old Lady had been chasing the Brazilian international for months in the hope of making him their first summer reinforcement.
And negotiations progressed steadily, culminating in Diego travelling to Turin yesterday for a medical and to put pen to paper on a contract.
Today Juventus have confirmed that they have paid £24.5m for Diego and that he will sign a contract until June 30, 2014.
Juve will pay the fee in instalments with £14m before July 1, 2009, £5.5m the following year and £5m in July 2011. An additional £2.5m could be paid depending on performances.
I am excited and proud at the chance to play for such a prestigious side, Diego said. I have dreamed of this since I was a kid.
After my experience in Portugal and in the Bundesliga I will be able to test myself at the highest level in a very competitive championship.
It is the right moment in my career to make this important step and I am convinced that Juve will be able to do great things.
Now I want to concentrate on leaving Werder in the best possible way with a win in Saturday's Cup Final against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old spent three years at Werder Bremen where he scored 38 goals in 84 appearances.
Before that the gifted playmaker represented Portuguese giants Porto after leaving Santos where he began his career in his homeland.
