Napoli director of sport Pierpaolo Marino has rebutted Liverpools interest in Marek Hamsik, labelling the midfielder unsellable.
The Merseyside outfit have recently been busy in Italy, looking at the Slovakian international and Udineses Andrea Dossena.
Napoli chose a bunch of motivated lads, said Marino. We knew they would give their all, and they have not disappointed.
The Partenopei made a number of signings after their promotion from Serie B last year to bolster their ranks.
Among these, Hamsik is unsellable. The club are trying to get in touch with his agents because we would be up in arms if they are attempting to sell him.
Hamsik has impressed in his first season at Napoli. The 20-year-old joined from Brescia last summer and has scored nine goals in 37 appearances.
We will not exchange him, added Marino. Nor will we accept any figure for his services. He is central to our plans for next season.
Napoli will compete in the Intertoto Cup for a UEFA Cup place after finishing eighth in Serie A.
The Azzurri are currently scouring South America for young talent to strengthen the depth of the squad even further.
Napoli, famous for their faith in Argentines, are believed to be closing in on River Plates 23-year-old winger Matías Abelairas.
Edy Reja will, however, have to beat Lazio and Schalke to the youngsters signature.
