Fabio Capello warns Juventus must focus on youth if they are to rebuild, as Inter are taking advantage of the post-Calciopoli environment.
The England Coach won two Scudetti in Turin, but both were stripped in the 2006 trials and the team demoted to Serie B.
“Juventus have a problem in that 10 years ago they stopped doing what Manchester United are capable of now growing young players without burning them up,” he told La Repubblica newspaper.
“Top class youngsters should be called for a year or 18 months to acclimatise to the senior squad and at the right moment are sent on to the field, where they become decisive.”
Inter have won their fourth consecutive Scudetto the third on the pitch and Capello feels it all goes back to 2006.
“There is another issue regarding Juventus and also Milan. Juve have not yet shaken off the effects of Calciopoli, as going into Serie B like that creates an internal split that only time and a long-term project can heal.
“Were Inter advantaged by Calciopoli? There is sadly this element that sparked the beginning of Inter’s era,” continued the England manager.
“When you break away from your opponents, it is increasingly difficult for the others to catch up. Without doubt Inter have been the strongest side in the last few years and their Scudetto this season was totally deserved.
“Inter took charge from the start and the only club organised to stop them, Roma, were disappointing.”
