Palermo have announced that Nicolas Bertolo is one of several South America starlets set to join them next season.
“Bertolo is a Palermo player. The deal is now done,” President Maurizio Zamparini told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Now [Director of Sport Walter] Sabatini will fly out to Brazil and Argentina to finalise other negotiations that are already at a very advanced stage.”
The Rosanero have made a habit of plucking interesting young talents from the South American scene, such as striker Edison Cavani.
Bertolo is a 23-year-old Argentine midfielder who began his career in the Boca Juniors youth squad.
He then went to Uruguay for Nacional before returning to his homeland for Banfield in a co-ownership deal.
It was Banfield Vice-President Nestor Villar who first confirmed the Serie A transfer this week.
"Palermo directors will arrive in Buenos Aires to define all the details of the transfer and to see Bertolo in action against Lanus," said Villar.
The Sicilians are expected to hand over around £3m for the midfielder.
