Rino Gattuso, the fiery Milan midfielder, believes Massimo Ambrosini should captain the Rossoneri once Paolo Maldini retires.
The 40-year-old Maldini will hang up his boots at the end of this season after a glorious 25 years in the game.
Ambrosini has long been thought of as his successor, although many feel Gattuso deserves the armband more.
I have played more games for Milan, but Ambrosini is older and for that reason it seems to me to be the right choice also because it's balanced, Gattuso said.
Ambrosini will be 32 later this month and has been at Milan since 1995, making 249 appearances for the Rossoneri.
Gattuso, by contrast, joined Milan from Salernitana in 1999 and has made 275 appearances for the club.
