Catania star Juan Manuel Vargas is ready to move to a bigger club and could snub Real Madrid in order to join Fiorentina.
The Peruvian has become a firm favourite at the Stadio Massimino since signing from Colon in 2006 and has attracted a host of high-profile suitors.
But while there have been reports in Spain that Vargas has already agreed terms with Real Madrid, Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti is tipping Fiorentina to get their man.
I think that Vargas has played his last game for us, he admitted after yesterdays draw against Roma.
I can confirm that there are negotiations underway with Fiorentina and Real Madrid.
I dont know who he will choose yet, but I hope and believe that he will remain in Italy.
Naturally a defender, Vargas found the net five times this term and played in 36 of the Elefantis 38 Serie A fixtures.
The 24-year-old is expected to fetch a fee in the region of £6m, which Catania will use to strengthen the squad in the hope of avoiding a nail-biting relegation dogfight next term.
