Prandelli enjoys Euro dream
Sunday 18 May, 2008

Cesare Prandelli is overjoyed at finally taking Fiorentina into the Champions League and confirmed he’ll stay on at the Stadio Franchi.

“We will play the preliminary round at the end of an extraordinary season,” said the Coach who saw Calciopoli strip the team of their qualification for the past two years.

“Yet again I must thank these wonderful lads. Toro didn’t want to lose today, so finally football has changed!”

They needed a victory in Turin to snatch fourth place off Milan, but rode their luck against a side that had nothing more to play for until Daniel Pablo Osvaldo’s spectacular overhead kick.

“Osvaldo has these quirks and incredible tricks, but he needs to improve on the simple things…

“We have achieved a very important objective and President Della Valle came into the locker room to compliment everybody,” continued Prandelli.

“Tonight in Florence we will celebrate. In this moment in time I am very happy, it’s amazing how one goal can change everything. Now we will rest and then sit around a table to prepare for next season.”

The Coach has been linked with a series of other sides, including Inter, but assures there is no truth in the rumours.

“Will I stay on? Absolutely!”

Wing-back Manuel Pasqual was also celebrating the remarkable achievement.

“It was about time we got to the Champions League,” said the Italian international.

“For the past three years we have finished in fourth place and had nothing to show for it, but we played with intelligence and were able to react even when we heard Milan had taken the lead.”
