Del Neri eyes Juve revenge
Sunday 17 May, 2009

Gigi Del Neri is confident Atalanta can “take revenge” for their controversial defeat to Juventus earlier this season.

“We have the extra motivation of our last meeting and can take revenge,” said the Orobici boss.

“We lost that game 3-1 and Juve scored two goals that should’ve been flagged offside. Generally, when the result does not reflect the level of the performance, it really tends to irritate you.”

Atalanta will travel to an empty Stadio Olimpico in Turin this afternoon, as the Bianconeri must play behind closed doors.

They had won an initial appeal to have the one-match ban postponed, but the High Court also agreed that Juve fans deserved suspension for aiming racist abuse at Inter’s Mario Balotelli.

“It is a difficult match, as Juve are third and aiming for a place in the Champions League, but I am confident that our spirit will cover that difference.”

Sergio Floccari and Jose Leonardo Talamonti are out of action, while Simone Padoin and Tiberio Guarente sit out bans.

“We will bring four lads from the youth team on to the bench, but the concept remains the same. We must leave the field certain we have done everything possible to make life difficult for our opponents.”

Atalanta squad: Girasole, Gabbiadini, Consigli, Colombi, Manfredini, Pellegrino, Peluso, Bellini, Garics, Capelli, Cigarini, Villanova, Parravicini, Zaza, Defendi, Plasmati, Cerci, Doni.

Ranieri believes in second chances
Claudio Ranieri still thinks Juventus can finish second and hints Alessandro Del Piero will be dropped again for the Atalanta match. More
