Inter captain Javier Zanetti believes this Scudetto is a particularly special one and explains what it was like as the team watched events unfold.
“This 17th title has immense value for us and a very special feel to it because it is the fourth in a row and enters the history books,” he grinned.
The Nerazzurri were able to celebrate on Saturday evening without setting foot on the pitch, as they gathered at the Pinetina training ground to watch Milan’s 2-1 defeat at Udinese.
“We were watching the game in a relaxed manner, as we always do when we play the next day. When Udinese scored the second goal, we believed more and more.
“In any case, even if it hadn’t happened tonight then we would’ve celebrated on Sunday evening, because we had so much hunger for victory.”
Inter would have sealed the Scudetto with a win over Siena on Sunday night, but that game is now little more than a chance to party at San Siro.
It was particularly good timing to mark it on Saturday, as it was President Massimo Moratti’s 64th birthday.
“The President deserves this great present and the fans earned the right to celebrate. I have always believed in this team,” concluded Zanetti.
