Former Juventus forward Marco Di Vaio has flopped at Genoa this term, but he is determined to make his mark at Marassi.
The 31-year-old returned to the peninsula to join the Grifone from Monaco in January 2007 and played a part in promotion from Serie B with nine goals in the second half of the season.
But this term the proven hitmans efforts have been dwarfed by 19-goal revelation Marco Borriello and has found the net just three times.
I know that I have failed this season, Di Vaio admitted to Secolo XIX. But I want to stay to prove myself.
I accepted Serie B and that was a gamble and now I would like to stay here.
This season I thought and hoped that I would give more. It was an important year for the team, but on a personal level I didnt meet my targets.
Di Vaio is expected to discuss a new contract with the Rossoblu at the end of the season, but is reportedly a target for a number of Serie B sides, including Bologna, should he decide to accept second tier football.
